The Presbyterian Homes, Inc. and Friends Homes, Inc. are pleased to announce that three staff members have been honored by LeadingAge North Carolina. Among those recognized were Hank Lovvorn, Vice-President and Director of Operations, for The Presbyterian Homes, Inc. (PHI), Kelli Underhill, Community Mentor, with River Landing at Sandy Ridge, and Sanela Basic, Services Manager over dining, at the West campus of Friends Homes, Inc. (FHI). The awards ceremony, held at LeadingAge North Carolina’s 62nd annual conference and trade show, was hosted in Asheville, on May 16.Hank Lovvorn, Vice-President and Director of Operations, for PHI was honored with the Excellence in Leadership Award. The award recognizes those who demonstrate leadership within their team that is impactful, effective, motivational, and consistent. Hank has been in his role with PHI for 10 years. His 20-plus year career has been dedicated to serving the residents and staff of continuing care retirement communities. His passion for person-centered care has led the Board and staff to strategically prioritize this approach with regard to both the physical re-construction of the healthcare areas within the three PHI communities and the programmatic pieces that directly benefit residents and their families. Hank is revered as a forward thinker and respected for his motivational and supportive management style. Kelli Underhill, Community Mentor (Nursing Home Administrator), with River Landing at Sandy Ridge was honored with the Emerging Leader Award. This award is given to an individual at the early or mid-stage of his or her career who has demonstrated aptitude for and commitment to professional growth as a leader and who has assumed within the last five years expanded leadership responsibilities. A 15-year employee, Kelli, completed her Administrator in Training program in 2016, and shifted her role from working as a Household Coordinator (Social Worker) to Community Mentor (Nursing Home Administrator). Kelli is committed to the highest standards of professional conduct and practice, works to build a cohesive team at all levels of care, and accomplishes all that she does with heartfelt service. Sanela Basic, Services Manager over dining, at Friends Homes’ West campus, was honored with The Service Excellence Award. The award seeks to honor those in direct service, who demonstrate extraordinary talent, expertise, and dedication in provision of exceptional service to residents. Sanela has been in her role since November 2006, coordinating dining staff, activities and catered events. Sanela is known for her resident centered care and support, cultivating relationships, inspiring others, her bright personality and positive attitude, and is highly thought of by residents and staff alike.
